Have questions about how to use PRESTO in Apple Wallet? Here are the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions.

PRESTO in Apple Wallet lets you pay your fare using your iPhone or Apple Watch instead of a physical PRESTO cardOnce a PRESTO card is added to your Apple Wallet, it will be associated with your Apple ID and cannot be transferred to another Apple ID.

With Express Mode enabled, simply tap your device on a PRESTO readerYou don't need to unlock your device or open Apple Wallet.

You can have multiple PRESTO cards in your Apple Wallet, but only one card at a time can be set up for Express ModeIf you want to use a different PRESTO card, you will have to manually select the card in your Apple Wallet before tapping

You can add a PRESTO card to Apple Wallet in several ways:

  • Get a new PRESTO card directly through Apple Wallet or the PRESTO App
  • Convert an existing physical PRESTO card to a digital PRESTO card in Apple Wallet
  • Transfer a PRESTO card between eligible Apple devices, such as an Apple Watch.

You can also move a PRESTO card from your iPhone to your Apple Watch.

YesPRESTO cards in Apple Wallet can be registered to a PRESTO account through the PRESTO app.

Once registered, you can:

  • Protect your balance if your device is lost
  • Manage your card online
  • View card information and transaction history
  • Set up Autoload and Autorenew (eligible payment methods only)

NoOnce a physical PRESTO card has been converted to Apple Wallet, the physical card is permanently deactivated and cannot be used again.

If you want to use a physical PRESTO card again, you'll need to buy a new physical card.

You can add funds and passes using:

  • Apple Wallet
  • The PRESTO app
  • The PRESTO website

You can set up Autoload and Autorenew with a credit card as the payment method.

Debit cards cannot be used for Autoload or Autorenew on PRESTO cards in Apple Wallet.

If you want to load funds using a debit card, use the PRESTO app or website.

If your device is lost, stolen, replaced, or reset:

1Mark the device as lost using Apple's Find My service. 2Remove the PRESTO card from the old device if possible. 3Sign in to your Apple account on your new device. 4Restore your PRESTO card from your previous cards in Apple Wallet

PRESTO in Apple Wallet may not be available:

  • On unsupported Apple devices
  • In regions where the feature is not currently supported
  • If your Apple software is not up to date
  • The feature is not supported by your transit agency

For example, PRESTO in Apple Wallet is not currently available as a payment method for OC Transpo customers in Ottawa.

Customers aged 13 and older with their own compatible Apple device can use PRESTO in Apple Wallet.

Children under 13 must use a physical PRESTO card.

NoTransit Usage Reports and Loyalty & Capping Summaries are not currently available for PRESTO cards in Apple Wallet.

If you require a Transit Usage Report for tax, expense or business purposes, use a physical PRESTO card.
